| 1. Qualifications |
|
Foreign students having nationalities of the
East Asian and Southeast Asian countries who satisfy the following conditions
as of April 1 of the current year. |
| (1) |
First year master's degree students or second year doctor's degree students enrolled in an engineering or agricultural department of a university specified by this Foundation. |
| (2) |
Unmarried as a rule and under 35 years old. |
| (3) |
Not recipients of scholarships of foreign governments or domestic or foreign bodies exceeding in total 50,000 yen per month. |

March 〜April, each year |
| 4. Screening Standard |
|
(1) |
Students of excellent caliber and academic ability,
and physically healthy, who are expected to perform an active future role in furthering
relations beween Japan and other Asian countries. |
| (2) |
Students who are adjudged to require financial assistance in order to continue their studies as research students in Japan. |
| 5. Screening Method |
|
(1) Preliminary screening by the universities specified by this Foundation
(2) Interview by Directors of this Foundation.
(3) Final screening by the Screening Committee of this Foundation. |
