<August 17, 2005>
The gathering of the high school scholarship studentユs parents and friends was held on August 17, 2005 at Nish-azai-cho, Shiga Prefecture.
The High School Student Scholarship system was inaugurated in 1965 for pupils around the northern shores of Lake Biwa, the home province of Magokichi Yamaoka, the first board chairman of the foundation. The scholarship has so far been granted to about 400 students.
Mayor Kumagai of Nishi-azai-cho, current scholarship students, their parents and other family members, and plant managers of Yanmar Nagahara Plant attended the gathering.   Research Presentation Meetings (Tokyo and Osaka Regions) by
  Technical Graduate Students
Tokyo Region
Osaka Region
<October 8 and November 26, 2005>
The first research presentations by technical graduate students were held on Oct. 8 at Yanmarユs Tokyo Branch Office and Nov. 26 at Yanmarユs Head Office. The gatherings are intended as a place for friendly exchange and learning from each other through the presentation of their own research themes. Some were nervous in front of the audience of researchers from diverse fields; others moved confidently straight to the core points. Academic advisors afterwards gave useful advice and critiques. The studentsユ hard work and zeal were obvious and made for two very fruitful meetings.

  Foreign Scholarship Students Workshop
  Developing exchange between foreign students.
   Enjoying the Japanese Autumn.
<November 11~12, 2005>
The annual Foreign Scholarship Students Workshop was held during Nov. 11~12.
A total of 14 scholarship students, including 12 foreign and 2 Japanese, participated in two days of valuable work and friendship.
Two division managers introduced the Yanmar Technical Research Institute and commented on the research presentations made by each scholarship student.
Mr. Yamaoka, chairman of the board, joined the convivial party afterwards.
He said: メI also studied abroad, in America, so I know very well how you feel. Experiences abroad are very precious. I know you have troubles studying in Japan. I hope that you take this opportunity to peer into yourselves deeply, study about Japan and tackle your research themes with great curiosity.モ He also spoke personally with every scholarship student during the happy party.
On the second day of the workshop, all visited the World Heritage sites of Kiyomizu Temple, Tenryuji Temple in Arashiyama and Nijo Castle in Kyoto to delve more deeply into Japanese culture and enjoy the autumnal scenery. Some students spoke of making new discoveries each time they visited Kyoto. They took home digital snapshots of beautiful scenes and a thoroughly memorable event.
The workshop was short at only two days but the exchanges between these scholars of the Yamaoka Scholarship Foundation will last long in the memory.
