Recent years have seen rising attention away from simply catching fish to raising them as well. Yanmar opened the Yanmar Marine Farm for state of the art research next to Yanmar Shipbuilding in Oita, just close to Oita Airport, in 1988. The focus is on biotechnology in the farm's diverse study themes.
R&D subjects include spawning, raising, releasing and also energy-saving. The labs weaved a broad, environmental net.
