| Although it has long been said that these are tough times
for Japanese agriculture, we, Yanmar Agricultural Equipment, noticed in 1990 that
despite such a difficult situation, a promising sign, and its expansion, was seen.
The sign was that both energetic farmers, who were trying to address pioneering
challenges with dreams and hopes for the 21st century, and groups of those farmers
were born in many areas across the country. We appreciated such efforts and adopted
a slogan of "now Japanese agriculture is fascinating - its changes and responses
to those changes." Since then we have talked with farmers and peoples in
communities across the country about the future of agriculture, and has been encouraging
their efforts. In addition to such encouraging talks, we started the student prize
article/essay contest so that young people who would lead the next generation
could fully discuss with each other the future of both agriculture and agricultural
communities. We celebrate the 17th anniversary of the contest this year. We are
looking forward to receiving many recommendations filled with dreams and youthfulness. |
