Yanmar proudly announces its sponsorship of Bundesliga’s Borussia Dortmund football team.
1. Yanmar and Borussia Dortmund Partnership:
The upcoming sponsorship of the premier team emphasizes Yanmar’s long-standing connection with Germany dating back to the beginning of the 20th century, when founder Magokichi Yamaoka saw renowned Dr. Rudolf Diesel’s engine on display and made it into the world’s first practical diesel engine.
The connection with the German Football League goes even deeper, in that Shinji Kagawa, midfielder at Borussia Dortmund since June 2010, has his roots at Cerezo Osaka, Yanmar’s official sponsored team. Cerezo ranked third in the Japanese primary football competition, qualifying for AFC Champions League in 2010.
A leading club of the German Football League, Borussia Dortmund enjoys the highest attendance of any club in Germany and second highest in Europe, as well as the support of over 500 fan clubs all around the world.
As a Champion Partner of Borussia Dortmund, Yanmar will actively support the competition activity, further promoting its image and raising brand awareness in international markets. Sponsorship will start from August 1 and will continue until June 30, 2012, with the option to extend to subsequent seasons.
Towards its centennial in 2012, Yanmar has redefined itself in a new world context under the major themes of “Global, Speed and Challenge”, which also symbolize the core values of football.
